By Nature (a dream ballet)

During lockdown, my family and I leaned hard into movies. Night after night, I'd sit in front of the TV trying not to bite my nails down to their beds. I had just completed fundraising and securing a new location for my nonprofit, Satellite Dance, and I had no idea what to do.

We watched the classic OKLAHOMA!, and I had an "oh, duh" moment. Since we can't perform live, let's make a dance film. Married to a commercial producer and having worked in video production myself, I leapt at the chance to combine my skills and collaborate with the Nashville film community.

Satellite supports and celebrates artists regardless of life phase or level of training. If you want to dance with us, we want to dance with you. I love how this film reflects our community. Featured are established dancers and recreational aerialists (some who have turned pro!), and even have two mommies-to-be! The work is harmonious, equitable, and safe.

Our film team donated their time and incredible expertise. We rehearsed online and outdoors and shot principal photography on one long, perfect day in September.
